A day after a USA TODAY investigation revealed specific sexual harassment claims Brenda Tracy, a well-known rape survivor and activist, made against him.
In a statement sent through email, Tucker, who the university suspended without pay on Sunday pending the outcome of the school’s Title IX case, said Tracy’s accusations are “completely false” and the legal proceedings are “devoid of any semblance of fairness.”
Tracy claims that during a phone conversation in April 2022, Tucker made inappropriate comments and masturbated in front of her without her consent. Whitmer referred to Michigan State’s history of mishandling complaints about Larry Nassar.
In a statement, Mel Tucker said,
I have been ripped from the Team that I love, without any meaningful opportunity to tell my side of the story other than this press release, I ask everyone to consider carefully the undisputed facts outlined and reserve judgment until the full truth comes out.
